Yesterday I had an exquisite Zero Input Day that is still going, radiating, echoing through the corners of my life. A Zero Input Day is a good day. A good day, indeed.
Ten out of ten. No splash.
I always do a digital detox every Saturday, coined Sacred Saturday, however a Zero Input Day is different. A Zero Input Day is a portal of silence where I’m allowed the blank canvas of my psyche to make sense of what’s happening in my life.
What’s happening?
Who am I becoming?
What do I think?
Better yet - what do I know?
Or not know?
A Zero Input Day is a morning where I wake up and every sound is an assault on my system. A ping is a grenade on my peace. Music I adore any other day is a violation of the symphony within. Voices from others pierce a trance of nothingness within.
The inundation from the external world is extreme. We’re not designed to be constantly plugged into the chaos and darkness anecdotes of the world by the second. We can barely handle our own fucking darkness. No wonder we numb.
I’m obsessed with learning, with growth, with expansion so I’m constantly taking in information. I have coaches, I listen to lectures, I’m receiving music, I love podcasts - every couple weeks my entire system says STOP. NOTHING. PLEASE.
So, I obey.
I love the word obey.
It’s misunderstood.
If we could not listen to our intuition, obey it.
That is a simple solution to most problems.
My obedience leads me to wake up in the early fertile darkness of the morning in a loud abyss of silence. Solitude is much preferred if I can swing it. I love the abyss and protect it fiercely.
I walk a lot. I walk most of the day. Zero input. No ideas from the external. No noise. No music. No reading. No thoughts of anyone else. No phone.
Total trance moving meditation where I don’t know the time and stare directly into the sun as residue burns me clean from what’s never been mine.
When was the last time you relished in The Now and really understand what you think about everything? When was the last time you received something, anything, without also seeing it through the filter of someone else? Their reaction. Their report? Their judgment? Their point of view?
Like the breath, we inhale and exhale.
The world is inhaling inhaling inhaling - no exhale.
We’re hyperventilating at a massive critical degree.
The exhale.
The space.
The untampered with Zero Input -
Where for the first time,
Maybe in a long time -
The Only Input Is You.
Beautiful, wonderful, one of a kind -
You, You, You.
Ponder:
Have you ever done a Zero Input Day? Will you put one in your calendar in the next two weeks?
Most people cling to input because of what might appear within. What are you unwilling to feel?
Go on a long walk without your phone. What do you have clarity on that you were confused about before?
Where are you relying on other people’s information instead of your own?
Do you trust the exhale?
Zero Input Days,
My Beloved Foray,
Please Pave the Way,
All Demons I Slay.
Big Yay.
Love,
A
